Share
A friendly, real-life guide to carrying, changing, and storing reusable cloth pads on busy days—errands, work, school, travel, and everything in between.
On-the-Go Essentials:
Wrappers and Wet Bags
Why these two make life easy
- Wrapper: A compact, waterproof pouch that keeps a used pad separate and discreet in your purse or backpack. Washable and reusable.
- Wet Bag (12.5" × 10.5"): A single-compartment, waterproof PUL-lined bag designed to hold all of your used pads until laundry day. Washable and great for longer traveling as well.
Note: Our Wet Bag has a single compartment. Keep clean pads in Wrappers or your purse; place used pads in the Wet Bag.

Gentle Wellness Tip (On-the-Go)
- Hydrate: Keep a water bottle handy. Many people feel better through the day when they’re well-hydrated.
- Micro-movement: A 2–3 minute walk or gentle stretches can help you feel more comfortable between changes.
- Pack a tiny comfort kit: a spare pair of underwear, a Wrapper for swaps, a Wet Bag for storage, and a small tissue/cloth for clean hands.
- Breathe: Try a simple 4–6 breath (inhale 4, exhale 6) for a minute when cramps or stress show up.
- Kind fabrics: Many people prefer breathable underwear on heavier days.
Everyone’s period is unique—listen to your body and adjust what works for you.
When You Get To The End Of Your Period: The Wash Routine
Millie Pads™ wash well with a simple, consistent routine:
- Optional Rinse After Use: After you change your pad, you can give it a quick rinse with cold water to remove most of the blood. (If you rinse your pad after use, always let it air dry completely before placing it into a wet bag.)
-
Optional Pre-Rinse: Before your main wash cycle:
- Run a short cold rinse cycle in your machine (no detergent)
- Main Wash: Cold water · gentle cycle · zero-residue detergent (no softeners, perfumes/dyes, optical brighteners, or enzymes).
- Dry: Air-dry when possible, or tumble on low. Ensure pads are completely dry before storing.
- Between washes: Store using a dry bin with airflow. Avoid any wet storage.

FAQs
What do I do with a used pad when I’m out?
Fold it with the absorbent side inward and place it in a Wrapper or your Wet Bag. Pull it out of the Wrapper and put it into the Wet Bag to store until wash day.
Do I have to rinse in a public restroom?
Rinsing is optional. You can place your used pad into your Wrapper and rinse once you get home.
Will there be odor?
Dry storage keeps odor low for most people. Wrappers and Wet Bags keep things contained until you can rinse or wash.
Can I hand-wash in a sink while traveling?
This is optional. If you do, allow pads to air-dry completely before any storage. Otherwise skip it and store used pads in your Wet Bag until you get home and can machine wash.
What about airport security?
Pads, Wrappers, and Wet Bags are just personal items. Pack them in your carry-on as you would any other hygiene products.
Can I use a plastic bag instead?
If needed, yes—but a reusable Wrapper or Wet Bag is sturdier, washable, and more discreet.
